speech summary

Clash of the Organoids....Organoids are social networks on steroids. What happens if we expand the organoid metaphor and look at system interactions, system toxins, nutrition, viruses, and surgery on organoids? How are all these concepts reflected in a business? How would a business's knowledge be managed if the business existed in a closed system like an aquarium? Battrick expands this metaphor and the broader implications within an organizational environment to spark the next evolution in knowledge management conversations.

Entopia -- innovator in bottom-up knowledge management

If it’s the last thing you do at KM World….….drop by the exhibit hall at 3.15pm on Halloween! ….and let’s face it…at 3.15pm – it probably will be.....

Entopia would like to invite you to join one of our customers, Jackson State University (JSU), in the exhibit presentation hall. Dr. James Maddirala will carry out a 15-minute presentation in the exhibit hall on Thursday, 31st October at 3.15pm outlining why JSU chose Quantum and how they are using it to enable their KM system from the "bottom-up". We hope you can make it!

If you are interested in meeting with one of the Entopia team to find out some more about Entopia’s "bottom-up" approach to knowledge management or to find out some more about how Quantum 1.4 has been received in the KM space, please feel free to drop me an email to schedule a good time to chat. We’d love the opportunity to tell you some more about how Entopia is helping the US Navy, the French Ministry of Defense and other educational and pharmaceutical users. Or to give you a demo of the acclaimed Quantum 1.4 solution.

Alternatively, feel free to drop by Entopia’s booth whenever you have a moment! We’re in #210 at the front of the hall!

We’ll look forward to having the opportunity to meet with you! And wish you all the best with the conference.

LEADING KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AUTHORS CINDY GORDON Ph.D. AND CLAUDIO TERRA Ph.D. ANNOUNCE THEIR TWO BOOKREALIZING THE PROMISE OF CORPORATE PORTALS; HARNESSING KNOWLEDGE FOR BUSINESS SUCCESS.

REALIZING THE PROMISE OF CORPORATE PORTALS

Leveraging Knowledge for Business Success

José Cláudio Terra, Ph.D. & Cindy Gordon, Ph.D.

An Imprint of Elsevier Science & Technology Books

"This book should be a first read for managers of knowledge-intensive enterprises and a must read for IT professionals who implement Corporate Knowledge Portals. Claudio Terra and Cindy Gordon provide excellent insights into the role and functions of CKPs. They provide an unusual understanding of how CKPs change the way business is conducted to improve enterprise performance. This understanding is crucial to ensure successful and effective portal implementations and has been missing from most books and articles."

- Karl M. Wiig, Chairman & CEO, Knowledge Research Institute "Corporate portals are key to knowledge management as well as a host of productivity improvements within and across enterprises. Anyone involved in developing a corporate portal will benefit from reading this book, but it will be particularly valuable for CEOs, without whose active support a comprehensive portal is impossible to create. The authors' emphasis on the human side of portals highlights critical organizational and cultural issues that are often overlooked. The case studies provide valuable guidance to the efforts required to create a portal and the benefits that it can deliver."

- Rick Stuckey, retired Accenture senior partner responsible for Global KM
